Scottsbluff to Home | ||||

We decided to go home via Scottsbluff, Nebraska. We drove to the top of the monument. Then hiked a trail with beautiful views. In the evening we walked along the North Platte River. From Scottsbluff we made our way to Ramah which is near Colorado Springs. We spent one night with a friend we hadn't see in about 60 years. Roann spins yarn from their alpacas. She also teaches music. Her husband, Jim, is a talented photographer. From Colorado Springs we drove to Rye, Colorado so we could see Bishop's Castle. We had visited in years past and wanted to see the progress Mr. Bishop had made on the castle. From there we made our way to Las Vegas, New Mexico. We had plans to eat at El Rialto but a thunderstorm knocked out their power. So we settled for Little Saigon. The next day we went to Castenada Hotel. It was renovated in 2018 by the owners of La Posada in Arizona and the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, NM. We were curious to see the renovation. There is a beautiful bar and lobby and the original tin ceilings. On this day we were finally able to eat at El Rialto. After lunch we went to the Las Vegas and Rough Riders Museum. From Las Vegas, we drove to Gallup and had ice cream for supper! The next day we drove home. | ||
