2015 AIRSTREAM JOURNEYS
We found that northern New Mexico had a lot to offer. The scenery is spectacular and sometimes a little weird. We enjoyed the Inter-Tribal Ceremonial in Gallup. Tribes from around the country come to compete, entertain and keep their culture alive. We visited several pueblos and enjoyed the history and lifestyles of the native people.
Our hikes at El Morro, El Malpais and Bandalier were especially interesting.
We enjoyed our stay in Santa Fe...full of arts, jewelry, colorful buildings and fiestas.
Our trips to Raton, Taos and Chama were fun. We loved the steam train from Chama to Antonito with the abundant fall color.
The ruins of the Salt Missions date back to the 1670's when the Spainards came to colonize New Mexico.
The Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque is a must see. The balloons rise up in the early morning filling the sky with color.
On our way home we spent one night at Pie Town, west of Socorro. The town is known for pie. We enjoyed the green chile cheese burgers and of course New Mexican Apple pie (with green chiles and pinon nuts) at the Pie Town Cafe.
