Egypt & Jordan
In November we went on a Smithsonian tour of Egypt and Jordan. It fulfilled a lifelong dream to see the Pyramids. We sailed down the Nile for a few days. The various tombs and pyramids were interesting. The carvings and paintings in the tombs were remarkably well preserved. John even rode a camel!
We saw the Aswan Dam, the Karnak and Luxor temples. In Luxor we had lunch at a farmer's home.
We spent a few days in Jordan, visiting Amman Citadel and Mt. Nebo. Petra was amazing! We walked through a beautiful slot canyon and could not believe The Treasury which was carved into the stone.
We also went to the Roman ruins of Jerash with its hundreds of columns. What a sight it must have been to see it when it was first built.
