Bang Pa-In Palace was built in the European style as a summer palace for the kings of Thailand. There are ornamental ponds, bridges and a Thai Buddist temple.

After our tour we headed to Ayutthaya which is the old capital (1350 to 1767) of Thailand. It is now a World Heritage site. War and floods have destroyed parts of it. There are lion guardian statues and seated Buddhas.

Later that day we cruised along the Chao Phraya River. Victor, our guide, bought a Durien fruit so we could taste it. The fruit is oblong and gree with thorn like growths on the outside. We were told it was very smelly but this one was not. The yellow fruit tasted like banana pudding.
