2016 AIRSTREAM JOURNEYS
Welcome | California | Oregon | Washington
Anacortes is one of our favorite places to visit. Every summer there are concerts at Seafarers Park. The view from the park is gorgeous.
Boat building is still a major industry in Anacortes. Many buildings have nautical murals.
Whidbey Island is a short drive from Anacortes, over the spectacular Deception Pass Bridge. We enjoyed visiting Fort Casey. There is actually an old building which welcomes overnight visitors.
From Anacortes, we drove to Shelton which is a small town south of Hoodsport. From Shelton we drove to Aberdeen, on to Forks and then to Neah Bay. We always enjoy the hike at Cape Flattery. It is the northwestern most point of the United States. Neah Bay is also home to the Makah Indian tribe. We always stop at Take Home Fish to get some yummy smoked salmon. During our first year of RV'ing we stayed in Seiku, which is on the way to Neah Bay. Seiku is a small fishing village near Clallam Bay. At low tide it is always fun to hike out to the spit to see lots of sea life. It is one of our favorite spots and we always stop there when we are in the area.
