Our home base for the month of July was Waldport, Oregon. The town is located between Newport and Yachats. Waldport sits on the Alsea Bay and the distinctive Alsea Bay bridge designed by Conde McCullough welcomes you to the town where "the forest meets the sea". Many of the bridges along the coast of Washington and Oregon were designed by McCullough and are known for their beauty and durability. We stayed at McKinley's RV Park along the Alsea River.

We enjoyed the Alsea Bay Bridge interpretive center where we learned some history of how the bridge was constructed. Fishing, crabbing and clamming are major activities in this area. We wandered around the Wednesday Market and loved the cherries.

We explored Ona Beach and the small community of Seal Rock. We hiked in the Beaver Creek Natural area and went on a kayaking tour of Beaver Creek. We enjoyed the wood carvers in Seal Beach. Brian McEneny's artistic creations are amazing and the whimsical carvings at the Carver's Workshop made us smile.

We drove east one day to the small town of Alsea. We hiked to Alsea and Green Peak Falls. The forest is so beautiful in this area.

We drove to Albany to have lunch with our sister-in-law, Jeanne, and her daughter, ReNeea. Then Jeanne took us to her friend Phil's home. Phil does drawings of old cars and motorcycles. His only art tool is an ink pen. Quite amazing.

We had fun watching the colorful kites fly above Beachside beach.

From Waldport we traveled to Depoe Bay, Newport and Yachats. You can check out those adventures by clicking on the links on the Oregon page.
