We left Guilin and flew to Hong Kong. Our hotel, another Shangri-La, is in Kowloon. The student protests had just started and we were told not to take the ferry to the Hong Kong side as the ferry landing is where the protests were taking place. After a good night's sleep, we boarded busses to go to Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. The view of the harbor from there is just stunning. We visited Aberdeen which used to be a fishing village and took a ride around the bay on a sampan.

In Hong Kong we decided to get something other than Chinese for dinner so we had pizza! Later we went on a harbor cruise aboard the Aqualuna. The boat is called a junk and has red sails. The light and laser show around the harbor was spectacular. Afterwards we walked along the promenade on our way back to our hotel.

The next day it was about 96 degrees and 96% humidity. We walked to Kowloon Park. We liked the avenue of comic book characters. There is a lovely aviary in the park also. There are landscaped gardens, and ponds with flamingos and ducks. we stopped to hear some music along the walkway. We finally had to leave because we were so hot we were getting light headed. We stopped at the convenient market next to the hotel and got some cold drinks and something for lunch. The a/c in the hotel was a welcome relief. Later we went out to dinner at the Outback with one of the couples from our tour. (Can you tell we were tired of Chinese food?) After dinner we packed our bags for our trip home and enjoyed our dragon fruit for dessert. The fruit grows in Viet Nam and Thailand and is very good.
