Viking Grand European River Cruise

Our trip began in April in Amsterdam, where we spent two days on our own prior to boarding our ship. Every day was filled with tours of cities, special attractions and delicious meals. Our guide described the weather like this: "April, April, you always do what you feel like doing." That certainly was the case on our trip...rain, sleet, snow. If we had it to do over again we would go in June.

Some of the river locks were closed for yearly maintenance so we had to do a boat swap in the middle of our trip. This was disappointing as we were looking forward to staying on the same boat the entire trip. Not to mention we missed a lot of scenery along the way.

Our favorite places were Amsterdam, Melk Abbey, Vienna and to top the list, Budapest, where we enjoyed our two extra days exploring both sides of the city.
